UFO in Kansas still Unsolved

Many stories of UFO's and apparent entities exist throughout the literature of ufology. But of all the stories about UFO's, many of them, certainly a majority, exhibit no evidence other than the recounting of the event by the witnesses. While this can still be interesting and can still be indicative of something anomalous, there is nothing like physical evidence. Physical evidence is something that can be collected, tested, and analyzed. Even so, much of the physical evidence doesn't shed much light on the provenance of UFO's. This is likely due, in part, that UFO's are of various unrelated phenomenon. Perhaps some are Earth energies such as ball lightning. Some of crashed meteorites. Some of military experiments. Some of hoaxers attempts to confuse and/or entertain. And on and on.

But one such case with substantial physical evidence is the case in Delphos, Kansas in the early 1970's. You may not have heard of this case, but the aftermath and the soil samples taken, along with testimony, pictures, and investigation leave this case one of the still few that are not only unsolved, but not even adequately explained.

While UFO cases are probably more interesting if they contain notions of alien beings and crafts that have manuevered great distances, this case is quite anomalous nonetheless. But it doesn't contain messages to save our planet or stop using nukes. It is pretty simple. An apparently metallic UFO was seen by Ronald Johnson. The UFO was encompassed by numerous lights so bright that they temporarily impaired his vision. It sounded like "an old washing machine" in Ronalds words. The UFO left marks, or residue, on the ground and disturbed the nearby trees by breaking branches. The whole family viewed the "craft" at one time or another. The ring that was left still exists today and is still hydrophillic. It was said to "glow" when it first happened.

Mrs Johnson touched the glowing ring left by the UFO and her hand went numb as if she had been anesthetized. Rubbing it off on her leg prompted her leg to go numb as well. The encounter was first investigated by the Delphos Republican, a local newspaper. Subsequently it was investigated by Sherriff Enlow and another Highway Patrolman from the State. Later it was investigated by Ted Phillips. All indications are that the encounter happened the way it was described. Debunkers have attempted to explain it by saying the ring is a fairy ring left by certain phosphorescent mushrooms. While this phenomenon is a real one, it is a dismal explanation for the Delphos ring.

So, .. what was it?? A hoax seems very unlikely. If it were a hoax, I think we would have known by now. But the family didn't want fame or money or a cult following. They reported it, they experienced it, and one was affected by it physically. It still remains today a mystery. The fact that it isn't accompanied by the usual alien overtones probably keeps it away from the mainstream "wanto-to-believe" crowd. But I would submit that this case is as good as it gets. Reliable witnesses with nothing to gain, physical evidence that remains to this day, heavily investigated, physical reponses to the leftover remains of the craft. We really do have a genuine mystery on our hands here in Kansas.

A lot of this future technology looks very familiar. Disc like craft. Metallic. Emitting light from the bottom. Sometimes spinning on its axis. Creating a bubble of space in front of the craft. Enough to just puch right through the atmosphere (think O'Hare).

"This is all based on real physics, not imagination".

I'm not throwing out any type of blanket here dismissing UFO's. I'm just wondering what the limits of out own ingenuity and technology actually are. Might I be amazed at what we have already developed?? Might a lot of UFO's become IFO's if we were aware of these technologies?? Might the intermingling of UFO's and military witnesses be an orchestrated effort to use UFO's as a cover for their own projects?? Is sensitive leaking and disinformation a tactic used by the government to garner favor for "alien" UFO's?? Because this would take the emphasis off of the miltary's involvement in making these if everyone else thought they were unknowns. All right, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Let me just ask then. Are we making saucers(at least some of them)??

Crop Circles and UFO's : At least One Example

While I've been quite entertained by the repeated claims of UFO's making crop circles, I am at the same time intrigued by a report from 1974 in Canada. And it seems to serve as, so far as I can tell, a genuine UFO encounter that left behind,.. you guessed it, crop circles. Not an intricate fancy one of the DNA molecule, but just a plain circle. Well, .. actually 5 of them.

Edwin Fuhr, a farmer in Saskatchewan, was out working his rapeseed fields. He saw an object from his swather and got closer to take a look. Thinking it was some junk deposited there or some kind of joke, he was astounded to encounter a metallic looking object hovering and spinning in front of him. He dismounted to get closer. He got within 15 feet of the thing before a realization of something very odd indeed turned to fear. Scared of what he was witnessing he backed away towards his swather. He noticed that the spinning of the thing was also affecting the grass beneath it. As he retreated, still facing the object, he noticed to his side that there were four more objects nearby doing the same thing.

Ted Phillips later became involved and in an interview Edwin described what happened:

They were all revolving, all four of them. I sat there like I was frozen, I couldn't move nothing....I sat there for, it could have been fifteen or twenty minutes, I don't know. From one of them, something was probing around the grass....It was like, oh, I would say, the size of a fifty-cent piece, it looked like a probe, and the grass was all twisted and you could see marks like something had jumped here and there, all over. Then, they all went up, straight up, to I would say about two hundred feet and they stopped at that distance. When they hit the two hundred foot mark, they stopped spinning and a vapour floated out, an exhaust. The exhaust was only about six feet long, like a vapour, it was two ports at the bottom of it.

You could see they were about twelve-inch diameter ports and they were all like that. They were in a step-like formation, the lower was the last to go up... And after that, I would say only a second, there was a downward wind, a pressure that flattened the rape that was standing and I thought, "Oh, here goes my crop." It just took seconds to get to that height (two hundred feet) and then they were just standing and after that, into the clouds and they were gone.

Constable Morier mas the first on the scene to hear the story, see the circles left behind, and talk with Fuhr. He was convinced Fuhr was not lying.

He says : There is no way that this is a hoax...I think that there is no way that anything was wheeled in and out of that field because there had to be some trace...whatever was in there, it came out of the air and departed the same way, as far as I could tell.

Once I saw the rings, and how genuinely scared Mr. Fuhr was, it was most definite something had landed. Nothing could have been brought into that area. There were no tracks. It came out of the sky and went back to the sky.

"Mr. Fuhr is very sincere and a responsible member of the community that members of the force have known for the past four years."

I have seen this episode depicted on a television show at one time. I believe it was UFO Files featuring Ted Phillips and some of the cases he had been involved with. I haven't been able to find that video, but will post it if and when I encounter it. A few posts ago I embedded a video that contains some pictures of the rings that were left from the apparent UFO's. Check it out.

And while I usually dismiss the UFO / Crop Circle connection, well, ..... it has happened at least once if this case is legit.

Elongated Nodes in Crop Circles: Explained??

I have, in the past, been quite intrigued by the crop circle phenomenon for no other reason than the depth and originality of the "art". Is it a crypted depiction from other intelligences?? Is it ET's calling card?? Are they the result of terrestrial physics that are poorly understood or not understood at all??

Many questions remain about the circles, but one piece of evidence cited often times, particularly by BLT Research, is the presence of abnormalities in the apical nodes of the bent crops. The apical nodes are the plant nodes near the top of the plant but below the newest growth at the very tippy top.

And while this evidence of elongated nodes certainly seems strange and physically present, I've wondered why no one has commented on such evidence. BLT Research seems to have substantial data representing these elongated and sometimes bent nodes. What could be the reason for such an anomaly?? BLT says that these elongated nodes are the most evident and consistent piece of data supporting the formation of non-human made crop circles.( I have paraphrased this and will look for the supporting quotations)

So, whats up with this?? Here is a picture of the type of bent and elongated nodes (not from BLT). And here is another. And another. You can clearly see the difference between normal grains and those that are elongated and/or bent.

I've recently noticed the position and growth of sunflowers in my backyard. Some of the flowers have drooped greatly down to the ground and are continuing to grow towards the sun. This natural tropism of sunflowers prompted me to think about how these nodes in crop circles might form. And I have a hunch they might be formed by negative gravitropism. Plants naturally have certain predisposed tropisms towards or away from gravitational forces (postive and negative).

Now lets see. A person bends down some crops. The crops, depending on what stage they are in, will either die, continue to grow, or a mixture of both. It has occured to me that if the crops are still growing, they would continue their natural tropism, bending up away from gravity and towards sunlight. It may lend some explanatory power to the nature of these apparent "abnormalities". Whats is abnormal is for the crops to get bent over. I don't know that certain "energies" are responsible for such elongating and bending. It may just be a natural way for plants to stretch themselves back into position for optimal growth.

I'm certainly not on any debunker trip, just trying to offer explanations for such behaviors in these plants. But in doing this, I need more data. I have some questions that might be useful in helping to see if what I have just offered up has any merit. These plant "abnormalities"are not present all the time. And that makes me wonder if the conditions of the plants, the growth cycle, the type of plant, and so on have anything to do with this. And I think they might.

A chemical (auxin) called indoleacetic acid (IAA) is responsible for the regulation of many plant activities. As far as tropism is concerned:

"IAA is produced in the meristems of the stem. The auxin diffuses down the shady side of a stem and not the sunny side. As a result, the cells on the shady side elongate more than the sunny side and the stem bends toward the sun. " (http://leavingbio.net/Plant%20Responses.htm)

So,.... elongation is possible when factors present themselves to a plant that needs to stretch out to the sun for growth. Now I would be remiss if I didn't point out that most of this elongation is apparent in the internode, and not the node proper. However, I have read some reports that state node elongation has occured, usually involving the upper node as opposed to the lower nodes. So while this isn't often occuring, it does occur. And quite simply, I doubt if sufficient testing has been done simulating crop circles and their apparent anomalies.

How fast this elongation can happen depends on plant specifics and environmental conditions, but I have read that it can happen in a matter of hours (ever seen how some plants grow before your eyes??). I speculate it could fit the bill for some of these crop circles. Alas, more data (and testing) is needed in order to confirm it. But this phenomenon leaves us with some questions.

So one question I'd like to see answered is:
How long has it taken from the "formation" to the collection and analysis of the grains?? If ample time has passed, we might expect some growth from the plants. And this growth from a sideways position up towards the sun might leave such an effect. If the grains are collected in a timely manner then potentially such effects might be absent. Again it depends on the type of plant, growth stage, susceptibility to node elongation, angle of crops in relation to angle of the sun, and so on. But to put it in a nutshell, perhaps this node elongation and bending is a natural result of a plant that has been pushed down which is trying desparately to regain it's "feet", not some unknown "energy" pulling the plant apart. But, ... I could be wrong.

As far as the other anomalies, well..... that's another post. One possibility at a time. And while some may think I am offering up the "truth" behind these crop circle anomalies, I'll say I'm just offering a possibility. Physical testing and verification will decide what is truth and what is fantasy.

I'll have more to say about a particular case in Canada where a photo is briefly shown. As I was doing some researching on this particular case though, I found this little clip. Wow. Ted Phillips looks pretty darn young, but amazingly he sounds exactly the same. I've lstened to him a few times and I think that he is one of the most level-headed, objective researchers that I've seen. He doesn't rush to drastic "the sky is falling" conclusions, but collects the hard data in an effort to show that something weird indeed is happening. What it is exactly is another story entirely.

One of the classic cases in ufology. I find it interesting for a number of reasons. It is one of those cases that is outside of the US. It is very well documented. As far as I can tell, the events that transpired seem to have actually happened (as opposed to "may" have happened). There is much corroboration from radar, multiple witnesses, and credible military witnesses all first hand.

The CIA took an immediate interest in this case. Now as some ufologists would say, the CIA involvement in this particular case is proof that the United States was still tracking and studying UFO's well after the offical close of Project Blue Book. But it may not have been such an interest in ET/UFO's so much as an interest in foreign weaponry and the potential for attacks against our country. They are after all an organization designed to collect and interpret sensitive information. It is understandible that the CIA had an interest in this case even apart from any UFO connection. If the events are indeed true and accurate then it was a strange and awesome moment in time in Iran.

UFO Experience versus Evidence

The skeptical arguments against intelligently controlled UFO's, wherever they may be from, are quite valid. Nothing in all the evidence available is sure to verify the existence of aliens. It is possible that such undeniable material exists I suppose, but the skeptical argument is sound enough. There are any number of reasons why scuff marks (landing marks) may be left on the ground. Or why and how radiation has affected people. And how the desert ground and surrounding scrub brush was burnt. Again, evidence is available.

But as we get further down the rabbit hole to the so-called experiencers or contactees there is even less evidence, much less. In fact there is nothing except the accounts of the people with these claims. So it is an unusually easy task to dismiss them as sad delusions or hoaxes of the claimants. But, in all fairness, a few distinctions need to be made.

As far as evidential cases go, there is evidence. There is some physicality to some of these cases. Soccoro did have burnt marks. Delphos did leave a strange and long lasting ring for decades. Cash Landrum did appear to include physical human harm . And so on. While skeptics like to announce the lack of evidence, this is contrary to what we actually see after some sightings. Were the "landing marks" in Rendlesham just that, or were they the result of a scratching hare? The skeptics say that the evidence is not all that compelling regarding the potential non-human intelligent visitation. Fair enough, but this is far cry from saying there is NO evidence. Evidence exists as Ted Phillips would convincingly tell you. What that evidence means may be another story altogether.

So what about the high strangeness?? Of course there is no evidence in these types of cases. So it may be even simpler to debunk if that is the objective. But I am puzzled by a few things in regards to these types of claims. And while I can certainly write off many of these due to glaring lies or perhaps even delusions, some of them are puzzling. Whether everything that happens in human experience is a result of physical activity is debateable. Human experience encompasses more than a reductionist can account for. Can it actually be known in a reductionist way what a dream entails?? At this point in the course of history I would say absolutely not. Yet dreams can and do have a significant impact on individuals. Religion does have an impact on the experience of being a conscious human whether it is "real" or not. The question might be what is real to human beings?

So, now to the experiencers. I cannot dismiss all claims based on the lack of evidence, which sounds rather unwilling to investigate the truth of the matter. But what I have noticed is that experience is a reality, if even only in the brain. The fact remains that people have these experiences whether we choose to believe them or not. Normal, non-deluded, rational people have had these strange experiences. And while the experience is drastically different then anything with evidential leftovers, they still remain real to the person.

And the fact that these experiences are real in some sense leads me to believe that discovering the truth to these experiences is worthwhile. But to dismiss these rational people because of their experience is doing a great disservice to the spectrum of human possibility and the pursuit of understanding them. Is something actually happening whereby contact with other intelligences is being made?? Or is there some middle ground between experience and dreamland that accounts for these?? Or, as skeptics might add, is the whole thing a complete neurological misfire mixed with cultural viruses that conjures up alien figures?? I would submit that it doesn't matter. Any of them is of scientific and/or psychological importance.

We like to adorn, or at least scientists and skeptics like to, ourselves with the veil of knowledge and self pride. But that veil is thin and represents, in my opinion, a very shell of true understanding. Human vanity may be an integral deterrant into discovering what is going on here. If we can let go of our prejudices and biases and admit our ignorance then perhaps we can begin to unravel this mystery. At least this would be a start as I don't know what kind of methodology would be sufficient at this point to get at any part of the truth. And if we can be justly confident that these people are not lying then we should be able to at least attempt to comprehend what the limits of human experience are and more importantly, why they are.

A Global Solution for Humanity

I wonder if, sometime in the not-so-distant future, our species might face a challenge that required worldwide support and cooperation. A challenge that without the proper action, or inaction, would result in an unprecedented and unforeseen catastrophic reality. Something that might result in human beings becoming but a memory. Perhaps even life altogether on Earth.

It's is difficult to imagine such devastating scenarios, but surely something might be at least plausible. . Something is happening to our atmosphere. Our ozone and ability to deflect radiation is quickly diminishing. A giant, deadly cosmic nebula-like cloud of goo is approaching Earth in the following years. Supergravity has accelerated and the sun is drawing us in much faster than than expected. An easily transmitted mutated virus has made it's way into Europe. A supervolcano has disrupted much of the world in many different ways. All species of bees have gone exinct. ET has told us they want the planet and we are to evacuate in the next 25 years. Something along these lines. The point is : Some time might come where we, as earthlings, might have to make decisions together for the continuation of the human species.

This is very possible. I know my examples are far fetching, but with the history of our solar system and the changing condition of our planet, the potential for abrupt non-beneficial environments to arise is a question of when not if. Would it happen in our lifetime or our childrens?? Or hundreds or thousands of years?? It seems inevitable. The timeline of humanity's existence is but a blip on the radar.

But if we are ever to change from a Type 0 civilization to a Type I, as Kaku and others descibe, we will not only have to find magnificent ways to harness energy, we will undoubtedly, at some point in our future, need to escape some cosmic or earthbound threat. If we are to "save" humanity as long as possible, we will need to find a way to cooperate together as a planet. And we could never be further from that reality. As ideological humans, we may be our own worst enemy. We cannot agree on the most basic premises, much less an agenda to protect and extend our species. Even so, a global agreement, a global intent, is the only way for us to advance as a species beyond our expected and certain demise.

We must recognize the frailty of our kind and work together to plan for two things: protecting those that live here from various kinds of threats, and sending off humans to colonize other worlds or areas of space. If a humans expect a long future then these must be addressed successfully.

However, I question whether this is ever going to be possible. We can look to certain nations doing some of this, but it will take substantially longer, cost loads of more money, and increase the risk. Basic research and development is a long process and takes lots of money and effort. One nation undertaking the entire gamut of protecting people from natural or cosmic disaster and being responsible for a space program designed to get people off the planet and into new homes elsewhere in the galaxy is simply too much. It may be too much for the planet. Without some change in consciousness or a single new world order I'm not sure how we overcome our future needs to do these very things.

And BTW, I'm not advocating some tryanical evil New World Order. I'm just merely observing that if we do not come to some general realizations about us as human beings and our place in the universe, then we stand a great deal to lose.

The Universe and the Need for Life

We live in a day and age where theoretical physics is indistinguishible from nonsense. Wormholes, alternative universes, string theory, M-Brane theory, quantum theory, etc. It seems the world around us at the simplest levels is quite simply beyond reason. Beyond comprehension, beyond even basic logic. We keep searching for, and have done for decades, particles that we don't know exist. We don't even understand light, gravity, and the birth of the universe in any satisfying way.

Perhaps I'm being too critical. These problems are quite complex and we have basically only begun. I admire the scientific endeavors. Maybe it is surprising to some, the amount of bizzare diversity we find when looking for explanations to seemingly simplistic problems. One question I have internally pondered recently is the existence of life. And I suppose I'm assuming there is life throughout the universe, but it doesn't matter much in the consideration.

What is it about the universe that life needed to develop?? Would it not be a functional universe if life had not developed?? Did life need to develop?? It seems the only answer is yes, because it indeed did manifest. So while we look at possible reasons how life sprouted: RNA configurations to DNA molecules, evolution, primordal soup, simple to complex, it doesn't answer the why. WHY??

Why is it that mass (atoms, physical stuff) developed into something that could move around, look for sustenence, replicate, observe and adapt?? The whole idea of non-living stuff somehow turning into useful, living stuff is spellbinding. It seems to me that there is a reason why this came to be. Randomness doesn't answer the why question. Is there, at the most basic level, any difference between life and non-life?? Quite possibly they are the same thing. But people distinguish the two because they appear and act quite differently. Rocks are not alive. People are. Plants are. Crystals are not.

Some new agers like to say how the universe is becoming aware of itself. I am decidedly not a crystal rubber, but they may actually be on to something. Because the thought also occurs to me that a universe where observations are made are among the aspects we find. We make plenty of experimental observations. Light changes depending on what an observer is doing. Time changes based on observer speed. Perhaps the whole point of the universe is that self awareness is a pervasive growing spectrum through space and time. A sort of seed, dormant in some areas and firmly rooted in others. Maybe the universe is one big organism that has become transformed. And is continually growing, .. and learning.

And while we recently find that observations may indicate a holographic nature to the universe, however ridiculous that might sound, those observations might be clues into the true working of what we experience. Call it randomness, call it god, but the apparent NEED for life among the cosmos is more than we can comprehend at this time.

What did Lonnie Zamora see??

There are a few things about this case that don't seem to be in question.
1. Lonnie Zamora is of the highest caliber of witness. He was a police officer, rather quiet, and performed his job well. To nearly all investigators, his credibility is impeccable.
2. Lonnie Zamora saw something. Taking into account his credibility and the evidence left behind, it has become increasinly clear that, indeed, the incident did happen as Zamora described.

This last video has three parts. One attempts to explain what might have been seen by looking into technologies that were being tested at the time the sighting occurred. The next part of the video shows clips from principal investigators including Hynek. And some classic Rod Serling as well. The last part includes excerps from Unsolved Mysteries seen in the above two videos.

I can't say what he might have seen. A lunar module seems unlikely given the morphology of craft described and sketched. A very interesting case indeed. Especially interesting is the sound and propulsion. At least when the craft lifted off the ground. After that, Zamora describes the sound stopping. Apparently complete silence. So, while I look further into this, my questions:

1. If it were a lunar lander wouldn't the sound be continuous??
2. By this time, couldn't we measure the dimensions of lunar landers or other known craft being tested and compare them with the landing feet dimensions of the Zamora craft?
3. Was such known craft operated with and tested with two people??

Japan Airlines UFO and Related Alaskan Sightings

I do solemly swear that I acknowledge that this film was produced by the History Channel. The programs purpose is to get people to watch. I know a little about this caes as I post this. I'll look into it some more. Interesting if true.

In the meantime here is the NICAP Report by Bruce Maccabee

Several points in this case seem to be in dispute.

1. Weather Radar- from the aircraft, weather radar was used and verified a target. However the target was faint. Present, .. but faint. It was almost as if the target was rain, but there was no rain. Speculation on this point posits that the target may have been ice crystals, but this seems unlikely.

2. Ground radar confirmation. Conversations during the sighting revealed that ground radar had identified a target. Apparently, after the FAA investigation, this target was confirmed to be uninvolved with the sighting. I have no verification of this, but was allegedly in the FAA report. I haven't been able to locate this report anywhere online and don't know where to look. Any help would be appreciated either pointing me to the report or confirming this discrepency.

It is still an interesting sighting. Apparently also the pilot has had numerous "UFO" sightings after this initial one. And he even said that one of them was likely refraction from frozen ice crystals. Skeptics like to point out these numerous sightings, one of misidentification, to squash out any credibility on his observation skills. But other co-pilots saw the UFO in question albeit at a different, less visible, vantage point. And something WAS caught on weather radar. And it is not the only sighting we have seen in Alaska.

Is the Singularity Possible??

I can't say that I'm any type of expert on this singularity business, but I'll give it a go. The singularity is a point we may or may not reach where technology and computing power becomes so sophisticated that the machines themselves might not be distinguishable from man. And, in fact, man and machine may merge into a cyborg type of creature. We may basically render ourselves immortal in that a consciousness may survive and live in the empty computing world or may be planted into any number of forms as so desired.

There are many different configurations of what the singularity may entail. And while I do deem some of it wishful scientific fiction, I can't say that we would not see at least some of the singularity unfold. Even as soo as the current generation. Computing power is still building fast. Genetics and bioengineering is becoming big business. We are learning and revising the way we look at living organisms on nearly a daily basis. Cosmology has taken giant steps to uncovering the mysteries of the universe. Physics is in the same boat and perhaps in the giant cruise ship to the land of barely detectable pieces of fundamental matter. LHC for short. Science is just plain busy.

I recently listend to a Scientific American podcast about this issue. They claim that the singularity is plain old fiction. It just won't and apparently cannot happen. They say that the mind and consciousness is too complex to ever foresee it on DVD any time soon. Then they go on to say that they really know NOTHING about the mind-body relationship. They have no clues why consciousness exists or even HOW it exists. But for some reason they are determined to undermine the notion of a singularity. In a nutshell they posit, "We know nothing about consciousness, but we know it CAN NOT go on indefinitely and will never become part of some technology". So, ... they know nothing, but they know something. Got it.

They might be right. But the fact that they acknowledge their ignorance then reject possibilities doesn't make sense to me. The mind is complex. Perhaps the mind cannot exist without the body. But maybe it can. Either way we have an extravagant, lovely, poetic arrangement of elements, compounds, molecules, organs, and so forth that make up us. Living, breathing, thinking, self aware, intelligent humans. So, if this complex configuration of molecules is the natural substances that make up our consciousness, then why couldn't it be theoretically be copied?? We are basically copying a database of points. An unbelievable one, but still a natural set of data points. With the advancement of already intricate technologies, is it beyond comprehension that we might be able to do this someday?? Perhaps not in Kurzweils lifetime, but maybe his grandsons son??

I don't find reason to reject this idea. If it is theoretically possible, then science should meet the challenges that the question poses. Science is about answering questions, but sometimes it seems as if the scientific community by in large has it's mind already made up. I think science should embrace this idea. It is one way to try and study what consciousness really is. Is it a complex arrangement of molecules?? Because if it isn't, then that opens another avenue. Consciousness comes from elsewhere and is not indicitive and local to the physical body. That type of conclusion might have creationists hopping for joy and scientists leaping from ivory towers. And for the Buddhists, the song will remain the same.

Layers of Perceptual Reality

I was out for a walk with my kids. We were at a nearby state park ambly making our way around a small lake. Stooping to pick up various autumn leaves and anything else that seemed of interest. Enjoying the sunshine and the coolness the shadows provided on this October mid day. What I saw and heard next was surprising, out of the ordinary, and left me to ponder what reality really is.

From my periphery I sensed movement down the concrete walkway towards myself and kids. My back, or rather my sdie was faced towards the oncoming party. I then heard some low growling like that from an unsure dog. Not expecting nor desiring an experience where my daughter, in a zombie like trance, is immediately involutarily drawn to this dog, I wheeled around. I was surprised, not to see a dog, but a lady running down a slope of the trail making these sounds.

She was carrying a bag and in tattered clothes, presumably homeless. Running. Feet flopping. Head straight, Growling. Something was going on inside her head, I could but guess what it might be. Another younger girl walked behind her. And I thought maybe this was a mental patient out for a walk with her "gaurdian" or something. But the young girl paced up in front of the other and walked by without any type of aknowledgement. As if she wanted to get in front and be gone. I think the growling lady was by herself. And seeing something like that is ....

Hard to describe I guess. You feel bad for the lady and even sad for her. And as I'm enjoying the warmth of the periodic shafts of sunlight I am thrown into the uncomfortable position of pondering her reality. In each case, while our perception of her is becoming of sadness or helplessness, her perception is decidedly different. But probably no less important. As the subjectiveness of our own percieved realities are the only basis for the scaffolding of discovery and inquiry to our world, we must admit and realize that a part of this, perhaps a large part, is chemically induced. Hormones, drugs, and other environmental conditions can and do affect the reality of those surrounding. And reality is in the mind of the beholder.

And when we try to strip away the onion layers of perceptual reality we might find that no layer is unimportant. And if we strip away all the layers, is there an ultimate reality or is it contingent on an observer?? And as this post is a mess of fragmented thoughts from my perspective, I almost envy those with a more distinct vivid sense of what I determine to be lunacy. Life may be much simpler if you succumb easily to grand ideas, religions, philosophies, and ideologies. And life may be quite subjectively skewed with the presence of altering molecules. While the question of behavior and perception is usually a nature or nurture answer, the fact seems to be both of these play significant parts with neither one playing less of a role.

Is Peace Possible???

We understand the concept of peace. We also understand that it is a fallacy. Or do we??

Our evolution, or really evolution in general, has it's basis on defining adaptations that allow a species to survive within a habitat. In so many words, evolution is about finding resources as effectively as possible in order to propogate a species own existence. And as determined by nature apparently, our bodies and the protiens associated can change over time as needed for successful generational livelihood.

In spite of the need to utilize certain resources, we are unique in the fact that we have defined this abstract idea called peace. Peace: a place or philosphy where all humans can get along without destroying each other or hording neccessary resources. A place where we can share the fruits of the planet. Where everyone has adequate shelter, food, medicine, and happiness. But is thes utopian ideology a realistic future?? And why would we have even defined such a philosophy if it were not possible??

I don't know that peace is a genuine probability. I think that embedded in our DNA is the code for aggressive behavior. We all need to eat. We all would like somewhere to live. We would all like to be happy. But in the pursuit of this comes competition. We can't all eat lobster. We can't all live on the beach in mutli-million dollar homes. The need and desire for certain resources is the death of possible peace. Until we can become a society that values equality across all resource needs we will never become a global peaceful civilization.

But the one thing I find interesting is the deep implications of DNA. We are on the verge of changing ourselves, perhaps in drastic ways. Can we find the aggressiveness gene? The one that neccessarily inhibits and snuffs out peace. It is beyond our control to try and become peaceful on our own (so to speak). That is, perhaps it IS within our grasp to become peaceful. But only by internal DNA manipulation. And this would create such a uniqueness to whatever species we might call it, that it would certainly be a one-of-a-kind. An organism that doesn't seek vital resources for itself only, but calmly and deliberately looks out for the good of everyone.

My thoughts are a bit mixed on this, because if we were to change ourselves into a non-aggressive entity, would it also change and undermine our individualism?? Our indivdual values, morals, and beliefs. As it would seem, this is the nature of being a conscious intelligent human. So, in a sense, perhaps peace is not all it is cracked up to be even if it were possible. So long as there are desireable things, peace will not exist. And without desireable things, what worth is life?? It seems to be quite paradoxical although superficially we attempt to look at peace as the ultimate rung of theoretical society. Hmmmm.

The Provenance of UFO's

One thing we find with UFO sightings is that they still don't seem to shed any light on the issue of provenance. Where do they come from?? What are they?? What is their origin?? This problem makes for unrealistic scientific inquiries. Science is based on observation, experiments, testable hypotheses and so forth. Usually, when presented with a scientific problem, observations help. In this case observations of UFO's hurts

The collection of sightings and continued observations is supposed to make the science better. It doesn't. And this is why UFO's, at this point, are not a scientific problem. Science as we know it cannot solve the UFO question until more verifiable data is unveiled. So what is the problem??

One of the problems is that UFO's are an evolving phenomena. Sure they tend to be discs, lights in the sky, triangles or boomerangs, or even weirdly constructed craft, but they continue to get mixed with all sorts of prosiac phenomenon as well. And that prosaic stuff is changing.

We have been in a technological age that builds new, many times secret, aircraft. And these aircraft have to be tested. We now have true drone craft. Unmanned craft that can pull off manuevers that human pilots cannot withstand. Again they need to be flown many times to test their construction. We also have satellites that can become highly visible from the ground. The Internation Space Station has been the culprit of many UFO encounters. So has the development and subsequent testing of American spy planes.

We also have many gadgets and toys that are airborn. We haven't always had all the different spectrum of flying objects in our sky. So as we are unfamiliar with many of these objects, they become the source for many UFO sightings. Then we also have even more complex hoaxers out ther as well. Lanterns in the sky. Balloons that carry timed LED flashing lights. More and more of this has been happening. All the while these hoaxes are observed by unsuspecting people and are reported.

Meanwhile if there are some real intelligently controlled non-human craft, it often or always, will be carried with the muddy array of the above mentioned. This is why, or at least one reason why, we cannot source UFO's. There is simply too much and more to come. I can't really propose a way aroud this. Ufologists have to be careful and perhaps try to classify better these sightings. Perhaps with responsible and detailed classification we can begin to recognize the lanterns, the ballons, the flares, and so forth. Not to mention the meteors, space junk, lenticular clouds, Venus, ordinary planes, flaming oil wells, and frisbees.

The subjectivity of humans seeing these phenomenon doesn't help either. Because what we may find is that people don't really describe what they actually objectively saw. They mix this in and distort the sighting with what they want to see. They may want to unconsciously be a part of something greater than themselves. And this feeling may seep into their descriptions of "something not from this world". When in truth it could have been something much simpler.

Newly developed aircraft, toys, satellites, and hoaxers all present us without a source for true UFO's. While I don't discount real UFO's, I tend to think that there is less in the numerous observations than more. It is up to the intelligences to reveal themselves if they so desire to be known. And that hasn't happened. I doubt it will happen any time soon. Until then, expect observations to weaken even the validity and acceptance of the UFO reality.

The Evidence Buildup on Mars

I'm just saying that we're certainly going to find life before it finds us. Or should I say that we will find life before any intelligent non-human life reveals itself to us??

Perhaps in the billions of years of our universes evolution there have been intelligent beings (besides ourselves, if we can count ourselves among the intelligent). Perhaps these beings have traversed space and maybe even time. Heck, thats what we are doing. At least the travel through space part. But I wouldn't bet the unveiling of intelligent hidden enigmatic beings precedes our exploration and curious will to hunt life down.

The one tipping point that might thrust a paradigm reality shift is the discovery of something alive. Or even evidence of something that used to be alive. And I think this is what the Mars research is building to. The evidence is starting to pile up. We think there was water. No wait, there seems to have been water. No wait again, there was a lot of water. Actually there was so much water that it formed deltas and large lakes as seen from the MRO.

So the elusive, while seemingly closer, remains elusive. Where is it?? Where is the life?? We're getting closer and I still hold out the probability that we find it in my lifetime. I say the odds are good. Wait and see.

The Next 1000 Years or So

Two months before I was born Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. As I've recently recounted these Apollo missions lately with programs like "When we left Earth" and other History Channel episodes devoted to the brave deeds of these men I can only wonder what lay ahead.

I think that we will discover the ways around bone mass loss in space. The ingenuity of the human spirit has no limits. We will, if we survive long enough, stare at the face of God. We get glimpses periodically. The coding of the Human Genome was one such glimpse. We can indeed see the language of the original force. Quantum physics gives us an, at present, unreconcilable vision of the difficulty involved in unravelling the basic forces and pieces of matter. The basic particles are so mysterious that wondering how we sprung out of the primitive, non-consciousness world, is secondary to understanding what these immeasurable theoretical tinker toys acually are. But all we have is time.

And time has shown us unimaginable feats of creativity and engineering. One hundred years ago, we stood no chance of communicating long distances without great voyages. We were very excited to see an "engine" that propels a four wheeled vehicle around much larger distances. Seventy years later, we were walking on the moon. We had actually found the avenue to look back on our own planet. What is next??

If I live out my life completely, without major sudden death, I envision myself watching a man walk on the red planet. This feat would be so awe-inspiring and sublime that I don't know that I can accurately describe the type of emotion I might have. Hold no doubt about this reality. We will travel in a spaceship, unless we find ourselves able to be beamed there, to Mars and beyond. In a cliche way, it is our destiny.

And as we find our way to Mars we will find that much of our society and technological innovations have racheted up exponentially. It's certainly difficult to predict that of which you cannot imagine. As we discover and attempt to control nature, we will certainly run into many obstacles. But if we perservere perhaps we come closer to Kaku's Type 1 civilization. Perhaps we get on the map.

The one problem I see is aggresion and undying desire for control. If Type 1 civilizations exist, I wonder if and how they have moved past this. Either this society would be controlled by a supreme power or the society has lost it's selfish sense of aggression. It is possible that in the next 1000 years that we learn vast amounts about aggression, desire for control, and other apparent built in genes that control these mechanisms. And a question might be asked: Is it the best pursuit of our species to continue to carry these selfish, uncompromising genes. Absolutly there would be severe opposition and debate. But as a society becomes more advanced, more enlightened, perhaps there are unwanted characteristics that may be bred out. And perhaps that reults in a split. A manually forced evolutionary split from Homo Sapien. It could happen, or I should say that in 1000 years we may be able to do just that.

Despite the condition of society in 1000 years, whatever species is left (assuming it is increasingly more intelligent) we will be forced with the epiphany that space is our home. We will caryy the seed of humanity throughout the galaxy because it is the essence of our inner condition: to survive. And as an advanced civilization we will realize that our planet will not make the long haul and the best bet is to spread ourselves throughout habitable space.

The problems will be great. They will seem unsurmountable as many seem today. But they will be conquered. Perhaps the Large Hadron Collider unveils the mysteries or at least A mystery of the nature of matter. Perhaps NASA peels the onion layers of dark matter and energy. Could we provide solutions in the event of natural disaster?? Can we control the climate?? Can we become immortal or even reverse aging?? Can we breed out deviancy and build a scaffold of love and compassion and unity throughout our planet?? Can we smash out evil and replace it with cooperation or is evil a neccessary, well, evil??

There are many questions surrounding the future. We know how the past has played out. And although we tend to repeatedly replay this skipping record of control and conquer, I'd like to think that a better future society is possible. This overly optimistic view may be naive and it may even contain many ethical questions that remain to be thought out. But I do know that if it CAN be done, it WILL be done. This is why we will go to Mars and beyond. This is why we will clone people someday (if it hasn't been done already). This is why we will change ourselves into another species. This is how we develop new energy sources. We will do these things. Hopefully we don't destroy ourselves in the process.

Religion, UFO's, and the Media

It is such a dichotomy that we live in the US. At least for the most part. Religion plays a ridicuously huge role throughout our culture. And while I don't knock religion for everything, it has it's moments. In fact it has a lot of moments. The dichotomy that exists is that we can openly plug Jesus via numerous avenues, but should we even mention UFO's or aliens break out the tin foil hats and commence hearty laughter.

We embrace Christianity (sorry to omit everyone else here, but it IS the majority. Go ahead consider yourself a part of the cultural embrace, it's fine.) with such a ferver. We print license plates with "In God We Trust". We print giant billboards with slogans like "Repent or Go To Hell". We wear crosses, tattoo crosses, erect crosses in our yards. We build exquisite architectural shrines to the Lord our Savior. A presidential candidate has virtually NO chance of being considered without this religious baggage, whether they believe it or not. But UFO's? Please, get a freaking life you moron.

The media has always had a field day with this topic, but for some reason they never seem to attack that invisible all knowing man in the sky. Why?? Is there some evidence that Christ actually lived and presumably died willingly so that humanity may be relieved of all its sins for all the ages to come?? Ummmm, no. Yet the media treats this topic quite differently don't you think??

UFO's have been seen by thousands of credible sane people. Of course they have also been the fosterer of countless hucksters trying to make a buck. They have also been the lair of many a delusion. Make no mistake about it, UFO's bring all types from highly credible miltary to insane utterly discombobulated bobbleheads. But the fact remains that this phenomenon has affected normal people, yet you might not know this due to the media ignorant take on it. Are they being cattle prodded to tell a side of the story or are they just not very good at reporting the facts?

I can certainly understand the discourse when certain "ufologists" try to tell their story. When Jeff Peckman tells of direct evidence that of course he can't actually show. When hoaxers and liars make a complete embarrassing mockery of the topic at hand. When people make up stuff they become targets and it seems that these targets are the only ones that end up on the news. They have a way of polarizing and marginalizing the topic greatly. But is this not equally true in the religious realm as well?? Why don't we have the religious wackos exposed in the same manner as the UFO wackos?? Perhaps they are too afraid to upset the masses with something that is closer to a consensus type pseudo-truth than the UFO one.

Despite the unequal and unsatisfying reporting on UFO's over religion it will certainly not change anytime soon. I don't even know that most of the media even thinks or knows that the subject is worhty of serious discussion. These are the same masses that are grudgingly corraled in churches on Sunday. Should UFO's be a real concern it may upset the divine order.

I've recently heard a CNN reporter say that people that believe in UFO's were just lunatics. I've heard Stephen Hawking profess that UFO's only appear to cranks and wackos. I've heard a radio program crank call Peter Davenport. Imagine that. This is nothing new and I could fill this page with countless examples of the media behaving this way.

If people really knew anything about the topic they might act differently. They might. The reality of unknown intelligent life is scary and unnerving to people so it is better to bury and ridicule than to be informed. The Bible has a better story and outcome. People can deal with this, but probably they are just fooling themselves. Ignorance is bliss in this case. No aliens, only heaven. Einstein once said " the most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious". But the mysterious contains just that, an unknown. Perhaps it is just better that people deal with a worldview based on the supposedly known than actually thinking and dealing with a high probability that what they have learned about God and Jesus and heaven and a cushy afterlife is just, well, wrong.

The Psychology of Hoaxing

We see it all the time. Or at least we suspect it. And many times we can prove it. Hoaxes are found in a variety of areas and is particular concern in ufology. Whenever we see clear pictures and video the believer side rests easier as they have once again seen pure truth. And the skeptical side shouts "Hoax!" sometimes for no other reason than the pictures are too clear or the video is just too good to be true.

As a trend for further scrutiny of these apparent hoaxes we need to systematically diagnose and analyze what we can. No easy task. This takes time, man or woman hours, and careful consideration in many aspects.

But one thing has been bothering me about the aspect of hoaxing. Many times the pro-ufo side or at least the gullible pro-ufo side often rationalizes there apparent authenticity of sightings by asking why someone would hoax this. Why would someone take all this time and apparently money to hoax a UFO sighting?? I hear things like " This would have taken considerable amounts of time, intricacy, money, people, equiptment, etcetera" It seems to be a way of building a case into higher credibility by dismantling the scaffolding of apparent hoaxing procedures.

But that projects to the serious ufo community that we know the reasons for hoaxing AND we know where to draw the line that hoaxers will cross. This seems to be false logic when we try to enter the mind of a hoaxer. We have seen in several different plights where people become part of their own reality that they themselves have constructed. It has been noted that serial killers become a different version of themself. They live out fantasies or terror driven plots that are not neccessarily objective reality but percieved reality. Actors have been seen to have problems when they act the part so much that the part becomes them. And at times this percieved reality becomes an obsessive characteristic of their hidden life. Why should ufo hoaxers be any different??

By no means am I comparing the ultimate negative consequences of a serial killer and a ufo hoaxer. But it is interesting that they can be coaxed into percieved realities in a similar manner. We don't know why serial killers become what they are. Certainly there may be life-changing environmental conditions that mold such a killer. Similarly so is hoaxing cases, at least this is my thought.

Now, of course, we need to separate the gag hoaxes from the more involved ones. People may hoax for a variety of reasons and certainly do. But the ones that go to a deeper level are the ones in the light for this post. Perhaps as the ufo hoax is unveiled it may take on various veneers and may go a number of directions. And the stability of the person or persons involved may be questionable and indeed perhaps psychotic and obsessive. At that point the hoax may take on life of it's own in the hoaxers mind and become their alter reality. They may actually believe that what they are doing is, in fact, true.

I'm guessing this may be a plausible reason we see hundreds of pages of fake documents. Renderings of photos that may have taken hundreds of hours for completion. Thousands and perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars to construct models, shoot videos, and all sorts of the likes of hoaxing. I think of the Caret documents and the unending story of the drones. Of Billy Meier (how long can we drag this one out for??) Of Serpa and the alien autopsy. If these were pulled off, which they were, imagine if Sir Branson became a ufo nut. What would he be able to come up with??

I guess the bottom line is that hoaxes are numerable. Hoaxes are not limited in any way except by the laws of physics. If there is a will to believe and convince, the results can be striking. This distinguishes the good ones from the bad. But we should note that when someone tries to build a case up by dismissing a hoax, then we have a flag that should go up. If a hoax CAN be done then we should give every effort into investigating it as such. Because we don't know the resources and the determination of someone doing this and we shouldn't pretend that we do know. And while we can accurately guess the underlying reasons for most hoaxes we can not underestimate the veracity, gaul, diligence, and perhaps mental stability of such people.

I Believe in God

Yes I do. I guess in some ways I am succumbing to the very thing I have problems with: belief. I don't have any proof. I don't have any pictures or video evidence. In fact I don't really have anything that tells me to do this, yet I do think there is a God or god. I don't look at god as a male with a beard. Nor a blad headed fat man with a rubbable belly. I don't know that there is any story of gods son coming to Earth to save humanity from itself. I don't think there was a battle of the Titans.

So why would I go off the deep end on this topic? It seems as science gets deeper into the understanding of our universe more and more people are becoming atheists. They would even tell you that somehow they know that god does not exist. Apparently mathmatical models indicate this even though I can't understand it. To many there seems to be a reasonable explanation that we find order and life to be a commonality of the universe. But that it was not a creation.

If we continue to go on this, I have some problems. This is because I don't think any type of organization, random or not, has to preclude the existance of god. We always seem to come back to the same unanswerable question. "Well, how did that happen??" I think there was a big bang. I think that evolution explains why we see the variety of species we do on this planet. I can't imagine other life holding planets to be that drastically different. At least the mechanism for such life. DNA seems to have been the mechanism for life here.

DNA can take on innumerable forms as we see inexhaustable variety. DNA is the archaic form. and from there natural elements seem to select different configurations of genes that result in awesome creatures that fit the surroundings in harmonious ways. The Earth is a truly remarkable place full of differing survival machines.

But the question remains. Where did the first life form come from. How did it pull itself out of the ashes of abiotic elements?? How did that first life form split into other forms?? And as we work backwards on this, where did the material come from to form our universe? And what happened before this? And before that? It seems to be an infinite rewind button. Can we ever get back to a moment that was the beginning?

Everything we know in this universe was once smashed together into near nothingness. And from that eventually sprouted life and consciousness. How have we gone from chaos to complex forms that ponder the complexity? It almost seems ironic. But to me it indicates a higher power. An entity that started the whole shabang. The big shabang I guess I should say. And although this is what we see from a cosmological perspective using science as our tool, it doesn't need to omit the existance of something. And I call that something god.

I don't expect to see my father again. I don't expect to throw frisbees to my dog again. But I do expect to be thrown back into the mix of things. There are so many question that remain unexplained, that I choose to explain them by manifesting a "god" in my head.

You wouldn't be interested in my religion. I don't go on missions. I don't have a book to read. I don't need large cathedrals in which to pray. I don't have hymns to sing and candles to light. In my own religion I feel I will someday return to sender as a raindrop returns to the sea. There may be no enlightenment or perhaps there may be. But as wonderful as life and consciousness is,I do certainly have a problem with those that seem to as easily dismiss God as those that embrace Jesus. They seem to be on the same side of the coin.

So while I believe in god, I marvel at the complexities of my life and my world. If it is an accident or a purposeful incident, life is amazing. Perhaps a cosmic seeding. And I definitily have more thoughts on this, but they will have to unfold as I continue to write. It is hard enought to organize and understand my own thought process, much less convey it to written words (well, .. typed words)

The Intermingling of Aircraft and UFO's

The Stephenville Texas case has been somewhat interesting. Usually you may see a story on google and just do the only thing you can do. Wait. I mean what the hell, I'm not in Texas. I can'tdo anything to find out more except wait and see if more is published.

So, we heard about the lights and the hovering and the silence or lack of noise. And we also heard reports of F-16s also. And we heard a top official express that is was probably an illusion from effects of the sun and planes in the air. I don't have the official quote, but it was to this effect. This was , I believe, before Major Carl Lewis said that there were no miltary planes in the area.

Then, 12 days later, the miltary fessed up to it's error. In fact 10 F-16s were in that area that night. (Although there were sightings on other nights as well). They had just messed up and hadn't realized it did have 10 jets up that night. I'm not sure the nature of the error involved but apparently, somehow, could not account for 10 F-16s on a particular date. Until later, when the error was noticed. Whatever system they have for accounting for multi-million dollar aircraft must just suck.

This is one area that bothers me a bit. But I suppose, I don't know, what to think. The other is the intermingling of UFO's and known aircraft. We seem to have possibly seen this before. Whatever it is about this so-called UFO activity and the miltary is apparently connected somehow.

This calls for a number of possibilities.

1. The military and the UFO's are man-made. Whatever the nature of the UFO's they are under current man made environment. Reasons are numerous but irrelevant at this point.

2. The military knows of these objects and interacts. They throw smoke screens and mirrors all about to disguise the truth of the phenomena, whatever it is.

3. These are just f-16s and people are mis-identifying. Maybe there is more in the mix including atmosphere, weather, sun angles, etc

Maybe there are more possibilites, but we have seen this union of apparent UFOs and military activity. It has been reported in The Phoenix Lights, the Hudson Valley, Area 51, and more. Testing facilities? In some cases I think yes. And in other cases I think, well probably.

I wonder about a few things. Do we really know the far reaching effects of societal control and how that might be brought about? I have to wonder if the phenomenon of UFOs could be used in a way to gain control and favorability of society. I guess I have to ask, could this all be a ploy by the government? A test of some kind?? A little paranoid view, but I suppose a fair question.

One way or another there definitely IS a connection between the military and these UFO's. Whether UFO's are the product of the military is another question. In the meantime we should expect more incidents like this where confusion and conflicting reports are commonplace. Perhaps this is just what the governmental agencies would like. Of course this depends on what the ultimate truth is.

My Look at Bigfoot: Some Questions and Points

I must admit, I'm a closet fan of this beast, real or not. I find myself secretly surfing the web while peering behind my back to see that my wife isn't watching. But, alas, she has caught me before. Looking at a picture of Bigfoot. I just had to burst out laughing myself. She knows about my curious and sometimes gullible mind, yet I still wonder can a creature exist.

As I explore it this post I am talking about the classic north American animal. Not some paranormal, disappearing one. And not the skunk ape or the Yeti, just your everyday, normal, biological Bigfoot.

One thing comes to mind, and ironically it IS the mind. The brain of this beast. If it exists, it CANNOT be compared to a chimp or gorilla. It would have been found if this were the case. It must be intelligent, perhaps on the level or moreso than humans. And it's population must be quite small. Perhaps hundreds to thousands. I will have to look for verifiable numbers for bear populations because we don't see them all that often, but we do see them routinely and can view them easily if we know where to look and how to track them. Bigfoot is different and the population must be a small fraction of a bear population.

I also have to ask the question: Could a group of say hundreds of backwoods savvy humans disappear from existance?? Could they mimic what Bigfoot does? In other words could they stay hidden? I suppose that depends on who is looking. If authorities sprung a high level alert in purposeful hunting for these people they would probably find them. Humans leave footprints and many other signs that would stand out somehow. At least I think. But I also think it is an important questions to ask because Bigfoot has remained hidden for so long.

But realistically who IS looking? Where are they looking and how many people are really looking? Probably a few dozen people a few times a year, covering a few square miles. Really they are covering only a small linear path within a few square miles. If Bigfoot does exist it would pretty easy to avert any intent to find them. Especially being an animal filled with the knowledge of camoflage and swift escape routes.

Now a few things puzzle me. It's not the body. I think there are many reasons for lack of bodies. There aren't many bigfoots, decomposition, maybe even burials? This doesn't trouble me. Even when we don't see bears, we see their poop. Where is the bigfoot poop?? As silly as this seems, this would be of major importance, yet we never find any. We find prints and some other sketchy stuff, but not the poop. As I write this I wonder if it just looks like bear poop. A diet may be similar to that of bears and so possibly this may be the case. Again I'll have to look into this aspect. I'm sure I'll find something. That'll be an interesting google search.

Whatever the probability of a bigfoot it is a matter of science. It must be a creature. I don't buy into any notion of it being paranormal or otherworldly although I always reserve the right to be amazed. Bigfoot, if it exists, is a biological creature. It is very smart. It has a low population. It has enought to eat and conceal itself. And where it dies and where it poops is as elusive as anything else. But if it does exist, it will only be found by a major epic scientific mission. If you have ever been in any remote area, you know the vastness of it and how little you really are. You also become aware of the possible dangers and mysteries that could be lurking nearby or in the shadows of the forests.

Chicago O'Hare Sighting: A Look Back

Well it's been a year now(close enough) that we've heard about the sighting in Chicago last year. Of course the sighting happened in Nov of 06, but didn't hit the news until early January.

I remember first thinking, this is interesting and the first thing I noticed was that it happened two months ago. I thought this was weird at first, but, I suppose I can understand the timing it. I think this was on Davenports site when it happened in November 2006, but not sure. I can't tell at this point how much fact checking went into this story before it was released. Some think that perhaps it hadn't been properly investigated and we may be releasing something that was inadequate and unverified.

Anyway an investigation was done by Richard Haines and NARCAP.

I'll be honest. I haven't read the entire 145 page report, yet. I'll do it in time. I'm not a freak you know.

I'm just wondering looking back on it if we can still learn anything. Can we get anything else out of it? We have the one of the biggest airports in the world and this is all we have??? No pictures? No video? Nothing really than a few people saying some things. I really have to think that maybe it didn't happen at all. I just can't get over the facts of the cloud hole, the length of the sighting, and no evidence.

I suppose it isn't any different than any sighting really. Same thing. Nothing. Maybe there was something there, but as far as convincing anyone, well, I don't know.

Ufology needs open minded skepticism. Duh.

Let's get one thing straight that never gets straight. Being skeptical is GOOD if you really want to find some answers. Especially in the UFO world. I commonly hear "the skeptics" in a negative way and in the Stanton Friedman way it is termed" noisy negativists". And in many ways he seems suspect to his own "rules". Not that Stan hasn't done good work and opened the eyes of many to the UFO possibilities, but that those possibilities are those of his own conclusions and not exactly balance by other negativists if you want to call them that.

Now there is a difference between a non-thinking debunker and a skeptic. Non-thinking debunkers are those that just go through a laundry list of why ANY UFO is bunk. These debunkers and true believers are basically in the same boat. They have beliefs of how things are and they are bullet-proof to anything else. There are many of these in the UFO world. And none of them can impart any useful information in this study.

But then there is a narrower band of thinkers and researchers that merges towards centrism. The true open minded skeptic. The person that weighs heavily on skepticism but maintains an open mind to all possibilites. There is no such person. You either lean towards UFO's being real or not, even if the lean is a precarious little tilt. But the thing is, that most official groups are not very diversified. The opinions tend to fall squareley on one side or the other. Like minds tend to gather together and they seem to have no sense of checking themselves or their conclusions.

This is a problem for truth. Or at least those that want productive progress in the ufological field. No matter the difference of opinion these people (skeptics and co-called believers) need to somehow unite. Maybe they don't need to hold hands daily and they don't necessarily have to like each other, but it might serve as a great library of information and opinion. This type of forum, where skeptics, pro or con on the existance of UFO's, would intelligently and courteously present data. They would come to conclusions together to try and solve this thing. This would give the best opinion and data supporting the reality of UFO's.

We need the skeptics as our checks and balances. Then we may begin to understand how data can produce drastictly different results. We never seem to have the forums that present both sides of a topic. This is exactly what we need. Both sides. Because when you have both sides, even if they may be opposed, you have a better chance of reaching a centered and reasonable conclusion than having heard only one version. Period.

Here is a list of things that may help solve this impossible mystery. It is just food for thought, but if I could present some guidelines or rules that allow for understanding the people involved and an avenue for exporing such topics.

1. All members must pass lie detector tests or battery of tests. This may inhibit people making wild claims and those that do will need to pass this test validating, if only in their minds, their claims.

2. All members background and financial status must be disclosed, verified, and openly distributed on request. This stuff may be invasive but can be an important consideration when judging the nature and integrity of a person. Certainly this isn't everything, but people should know.

3. I think that even their beliefs on many topics should be disclosed as well. This is just an intensive and scutinizing way of organizing a productive group and I think, at this point, it may be needed. Not that there beliefs are even wrong, but from this information we can know where they are shooting from. Again, just something we should know.

4. Open and non-threatening way of meeting, discussing, presenting and compiling of data, and starting to form a "group" opinion using tools of science and deductive reason.

5. Peer review is only possible when such a group has operated cooperatively and congruently in a way that forms a more unified consensus on cases and presented evidence. This would take a number of years at least to consistenly come up with enough "heads in the mix" so to speak for a longer tenure to establish the validity and respectability of having competent peers review their work.

I know that I will have a lot more to say about this topic, but at this point I will at least get some of these ideas out onto the blog. Yeah the blog that no one reads, but nonetheless, it is there if only for me to think and rethink. To form logical opinions on how we may be able to undress the mysteriously cloaked enigma that is ufology.

Real UFO's, but no one cares

I listen to podcasts. I read any "news" on ufology. I follow some sightings. I read some blogs. I look to the so-called informed and sensible to educate me. Ufology is a strange underworld of many subsets and many different conclusions. But one thing that I NEVER hear or read about is Hessdalen. Hessdalen, Norway is where the UFO's are, for real. But it seems no one cares.

This is a place where strange unidentified lights have appeared and studied for at least 25 years. The lights are so strange that there are different categories of lights because the phenomenon seems to change it's "manifestation" from time to time. The lights appear in an assortment of different colors. Some lights morph into different shapes. The lights are mostly seen at night, but have been seen in the daylight as well. Sometimes the objects will hover only to speed up and move. Sometimes they move erratically and sometimes they drift down into the valleys.

This stuff isn't imagination. It is REAL. It has been documented. It continues to be documented by several groups of students in search of the meaning and implications of the phenomena. What is it? How could we benefit from it? How and why does the energy manifest itself? What could this tell us about the nature and interplay of environment and man? Most of all, how can we begin to understand something so enigmatic??

So why aren't we paying attention? These are true phenomena. There seems to be adequate sightings involving lights that pulse and move and hover and so on. Sounds similar to Hessdalen, a place we can actually go to and arduously and laboriously study. Yet we never hear an inkling about this phenomena. If what we are after is the truth, then why can't we begin to do just that?

I guess it isn't spectacular enough. Maybe it is too hard to sensationalize itand, well, sell it. I mean we don't have people with this universal feeling of wholeness. We don't have anyone being probed or at least communicated with. B-o-r-i-n-g, b-o-r-i-n-g. We don't have metallic craft hovering over the magnificent Swiss mountainside. Perhaps it is even mundane. But perhaps it is mundane and sublime altogether. Perhaps we are turning our investigative backs on this phenomena because it doesn't support our idea of what Ufology is all about. But what is it about?

Doesn't seem to matter. Instead we continue to have countless researchers still investigate to most mythical piece of ufology available. Roswell. At this point we can't even agree who is doing the research. And we are supposed to get at the truth of it? Are we really truthseekers? Unless there is some governmental revelation involving disclosure (um, sure) we will never know. and we will continue to grow stories out of the personality mill.

Meanwhile Hessdalen sits. Shrouded in snowy blankets. Watched by a few kids, a scientist (Erling Strand), and some photoactivated cameras. True UFO activity. It's just that maybe this is a little too close to the truth. And we certainly wouldn't want that would we?

This open flood gates. I've suspected this for some time now. This is a way into someone's mind. Physically. We can and will learn how to better read brain waves and interpret them. Thoughts are things! And things can be seen in a sense and possibily read. Sorry I meant read. And just that will happen. We can and will be able to control things with our thoughts when we figure this out. It will begin as a novelty where we can open and close the garage door or change the channel on the TV. But then it will turn to a more inimical nature. We will see the dark side of knowing too much. For some this will have been the intended purpose all along. This will give us the ability to control, change, and for a large part, manufacture our environment.

And as we learn to read minds, this opens a slew of categorical ethical questions. Whose property is the mind and how can it be soley owned and inhabited? Shall we jump into a killers mind? A rapist? How will this affect crime and prevention of devious or, god forbid, national security type behavior. Will we choose to invade the minds of society in an effort to regulate thought?

This is scary territory and it is a reality. A reality that may bring us a higher scaffold of knowledge. And perhaps a higher aggresiveness of those in pursuit of power. What if Hitler had won?? What if Saddam won?? Understanding the mind is understanding how to control. Because if we can learn how they work, then we can learn how to change them to our liking. And everyones liking is different.

By the way the movies will be great. Especially last nights dream. Just don't be too curious and start watching your wifes dreams as well.

Bigfoot News

I don't know if bigfoot exists or not. I've been in remote areas before and there is a lot of land that is basically not travelled. I think it would be possible for such a creature to subsist, but there seems to be overwhelmingly lacking data. Maybe for good reason. And there have been a few newsworthy items I have come across recently.

1. A hunter in Pennsylvania acquired some motion activated pictures that are quite odd, whether Bigfoot or not. As you look at the pictures they are weird. Immediately some of the bigfoot people stated turning to this as proof as the giant hairy one. Apparently the beast has adopted yoga as a pastime. The sensible forest rangers are calling this a bear with mange. This seems to make sense as you compare with the picture of a bear with mange.

Now a recent poll of a popular bigfoot forum showe that a majority of Bigfooters side with the sensible bear with mange. But there still appears to some believers that won't dismiss this. They seem to think that it is a healthy primate. Even though we can see the resemblance in the photos. And also considering bears were photographed by the same camera about a half hour earlier. And there were only cubs present. Maybe this was Momma. Or Throw Mama from the Train.

Despite most people considering this a misidentification, this will be remembered as an episode where the bigfoot crazies tried to pass this off as bigfoot. Unfortunately in these types of fields, respectable people don't get partitioned from the wackos. The serious ones will keep looking and researching while the believers, well, do just that, believe.

2. I've only seen one episode, but the new MonsterQuest on the History channel was quite interesting. Of course this episode was on Bigfoot. I never give these shows too much credibility as they are intended to get ratings. I did like this episode and it left me with a number of questions.

To sum it up the crew was led by someone respectable, Dr Jeff Meldrum. They stayed 5 days in a remote Canadien cabin known for activity in the past. The found and recovered some DNA from an old blood-stained nail board used to prevent bears from breaking in. They also recovered hair and tissue samples. The tissue was thrown out because it did not appear to have enough sequences to do anything with. The hair turned out to be "close to human, but not entirely human". And the blood needs to undergo further time and money consuming tests if anything is to come of it. In addition to this, there were rocks thrown at the cabin on the last night. Who threw them?? Who knows, but no one stayed outside to investigate or film. There were supposedly cameras all over the place but pictures of this mystery throwing wasn't captured.

The episode was enticing and different. I liked it but on a serious note there are many unanswered questions. I'm sure there will be lots of aftermath in the bigfoot world about this, especially since Meldrum was involved. I tend to think some theatrical and hidden things were happening unbeknownst to Meldrum and others. I wonder how this will play out, there is already a lot of talk about it.

Where is the Evidence for UFO's

Where is it??

Where are the bonafide pictures, videos, physical pieces?? Where is the data that verifies the existance and appearance of something weird?

The UFO world seems to be constructed of blurry pictures, photoshop projects, unknown metallic pieces, and testimonies numbering in the thousands. But how do we convince whoever we are trying to convince?? There never seems to be any real solid proof. And I think many ufologists would love to continue this.

As I conjure up thoughts of anything I would deem having credibility I think of cases like Iran 1976, Rendlesham, Belgium triangles, Phoenix lights, Shag harbor, Malmstrom, and on and on and on. In each of these cases the evidence is sketchy. But there is still some compelling stuff. Enough to at least try to investigate and get at what truth might be there.

Skeptics would dismiss cases based on sketchy evidence, and rightly so. But I think there may be more to this phenomenon than just pure empirical evidence. There seems to be a sort of tie in with perception and congnition with the supposed craft or encounter. We keep trying to separate belief and rational scientific proof. I wonder if belief is a part of the whole phenomenon in some way. This thought seems to sprout an tangled medusa of alternative ideas. Maybe we are indeed creating the whole phenomena. Not that the encounters aren't percieved as real, but perhaps our consciousness and psyche manifest these enigmas.

If this is the case, I don't know that we will ever gather useful evidence. Perhaps we need to undergo another or several intellectual jumps to be able to comprehend what is actually happenining. I suppose this would be evolutionary in a sense as our brain chemistry at least would change. And as we begin to merge ourselves, even biologically, with newer technologies we may become less like Dr Frankenstein and more like God.

But as this stems into another conversation we are left with little evidence. Very fragmented, unverified, undetermined, unconvincing data. It is as if it were a game. Just like when I play magician with my kids. I'm terrible but convincing to them. And perception really is reality. If I wanted to I could convince them that I am doing real magic. And never unveil my tactics. If I wanted to. And taking a closer look at genuine ufology, it seems to me that maybe something is maybe doing just that. Or perhaps they are lazily and irresponsibly meandering about their way in the multiverse and are seen. Or perhaps yada yada yada. To the rabbithole we go.

And to those that claim to have this great physical life-changing, paradigm shifting, evidence stop "saving it for the right time" and show it already. Where are the alien implants and who is testing them?? Where is the metal that reshapes itself?? And if the metal reshapes it self, why didn't the craft mend itself wholly?? Where is all the great evidence claimed???? Some one show it !!! Until that happens we will live in the same foggy underworld of charlattans and alien babies. Of reptilians and Zeta Reticuli. We may never get any where in this popular culture meets truthseekers. Not "The Truthseeker", but real truthseekers.

Where do I stand on ufology?

My observations of ufology as an armchair type guy. Just confessing my ignorance.
1. UFO's exist, but who's to say what they are? ET, unknown energies, hoaxes, misidentified, multidimensional, psyche. Hard to tell but would warrant objective scientific investigation. Ha, ha. All joking aside, UFO's are something, whether mundane or not.

2. Disclosure is not the way. What would the government disclose and what would be witheld? And how would anyone know? There's lots to say on disclosure, but I'll suffice it to say that lack of proof and engrained predispositions seem to hurt this movement. Now I will say that other countries leading the "disclosure" movement may ultimately put pressure on the US. Possibly, but I think not. And if they were bombarded enough that they might release some softball type of report. And what if the know, but they don't know what the hell it is?? How would the disclosure people react if UFO's are drastically different then what they expect?? Like I said, lots to talk about.

3. Stephen Greer seems to be Dr Jeckyl, Mr Outrageous Duality. I mean his claims are so extensivley preposterous it takes away tremendously from any good he has done. And I think the 2001 National Press Club was the best possible turning event at the worst possible time with the worst possible ringleader. Some of the testimonies are compelling. So he's done good and bad, well, maybe mostly bad.

4. Billy Meier UFO's are obviously hoaxed. I don't really need the story and the rants and the cultist mentality. There is very good evidence. THE PICTURES. Do you remember watching Mr Rogers when they went into the little tunnel and came into this miniature world??

5. There's a lot of shows to listen to but many aren't asking the right questions. It's as if we care to just perpetuate this whole field. Let people talk and talk and spew and spew out garbage until the show ends. I want the proof, I want the truth, I want the real scoop. Don't insult my lack of intelligence with your phony, sell a book, made up, theory. I guess at this point I stop listening anyway. Unless its the Paracast. They ask the right questions.

6. There seems to be a paradoxal duality with our society. We accept supernatural belief, but only if doesn't conflict with current paradigms. We accept religion, but dismiss UFO's. We pray. We believe in life after death. A path to (insert your favorite afterlife here). A bunch of old writings that some people base their entire lives on. I guess the will to believe is somewhere inside us. The will to believe is embedded at some level deep in our DNA. I guess maybe we do it to get through life. Anyway, maybe their is something to the meaning of life and maybe there isn't. But the fact remains that it is OK to talk about these issues, even publically, but it is not OK to talk about UFO's. Alien life. Advanced life. Aliens are perhaps more probable than god. But I suppose they can't offer us eternal life. Whoops, forgot about heavens gate.

The aliens have taken me. Goodbye for now.

You listen to it and watch it. What do you think because everyone has an opinion. I really hate politics, but it is a neccessary evil. And much of it doesn't even seem logical. We have a potential candidate for president (well, not really, but he plays one on TV) He is asked a question and then hangs himself. It is the impossible question. Did you see a UFO? I mean are you now officially ending your politcial career by anwering this question truthfully?? Are you a quack? An imbecile? The same answer apparently answers all of these questions.

People somehow take his answer as this: I saw a UFO full of aliens that were here to give me a message. If 14% of the country saw a UFO then we have a major problem. We need to recruit mental health professionals by the bundle. Conclusions are basically put into the mouths of the truth tellers. The conclusion is that aleins are invading and that the person who "saw" it is without a doubt insane.

Did he see something unusual? Yes. Did he say they were aliens from Zeta Reticuli? No. The fact is that there are many qualified sightings of unidentified flying objects. Enough said. I'm not here to go into that just yet, but the aftermath of this is uncalled for. I guess he should have lied. Was it stupid, courageous, or just honest?

Here is the contradiction. If he was asked if he believed in an invisible man in the sky that will save us and give us eternal life, what should his answer be?? We apparently can deal with one supernatural ideology, but we can't do anything but snicker and chuckle when it comes to weird stuff in the sky.

We seem to be in this loop that when a UFO "flag" comes up we act a certain way. We are programmed to reject, make fun of, ridicule, and seek therapy. Of course we know that there certainly couldn't be life elsewhere. And God forbid, he saw a military craft or a balloon or a hoaxed UFO and actually told the truth about it( that being he didn't know what it was). But there seems to be another "flag" that goes up when we say God. God is here to help. When things go bad we pray. The president actually prays. I'm sure that does a lot of good. We seem to clearly be programmed differently for this word "God" than we are for UFO.

I think it will take the discovery of life on Mars or a solar sytem moon to change this programmed response. People are clearly uncomfortable with aliens, but are completely comfortable with God. And why shouldn't they be. It sure seems nice, heaven and all the puffy clouds and the big gate. We're not so sure about the aliens though.

Mars is best shot in this lifetime

Mars is the floodgate. When we verify biological life on Mars, the Earth will never be the same. Well, that is for the humans, ... Who else cares right? Think of the moment. The moment we officially recognize another extraterrestrial species. Boy, won't the UFO guys be let down. Then again, maybe not.

The transformation that this discovery has the potential for is profound. I think it might be one of the single most important discoveries of our time, that is of human time. We have been astonished with the masterminds of physics for decades and centuries, but we haven't seen the likes of something like this. Imagine knowing for the first time that there was actually life found outside our planet. You may have had a feeling for the possibility of it, but perhaps we wouldn't be prepared for the actual delivery of such news.

Just the discovery of one biological cell or remnants of such would set the world on fire. How would religion deal with it? How would then society deal with it? When would we see the real shift in consciousness?? How would our daily life change in the short term??"The End is coming" Fire in the streets. Rage. Confusion. Despair. Excitement. Sublime wholeness. This will affect every conscious person on our planet in very different ways.

Of all the ways of discovering life on other planets, I think venturing to Mars and perhaps other places among our solar system have the highest probability of finding it. It is difficult to verify, and impossible to do so currently, life on other planets with imaging and spectroscopy. I don't expect SETI to come running in with a verifiable signal, although that would be pretty cool. Of all the bad things we hear about SETI at least someone is listening. Sure it is radio waves. Sure there are a lot of "what abouts?" against SETI. But there is the potential for the signal. Is it possible, yes. Likely, not. But so is the lottery.

We may also discover ET if he comes here. UFO's. ET getting in a craft and travelling vast distances to get here. It may seem unlikely, and perhaps it is, but it is a possibility. In fact maybe it is a realistic possibility. We are going in that direction as our technology and knowledge advance. Our future is in the stars and why wouldn't ET's be also? It certainly seems something that intelligent life might do. How they get over those distances is the subject for many more posts.

And that leaves us with one more option. We need to leave our planet and travel to other nearby planets or moons and fish around. Like Mars for starters. We need to hurtle a piece of metal towards Mars with people in it, get out, and start investigating. In a sense robots can do this, but I really thing at this point, maybe we need a human to be there to react critically and really get the most out of some type of mission. And what a mission it would be.

This is it. This is how we find and prove the existance of ET. It won't be UFO's on the lawn. It won't be Seths Big Day. It won't be a picture or image. It will be us going out and finding it. Why? Because it is there to be found. And the truth can be learned before the modern generation passes away. I think we will learn this within the next 30 years.

So Mars will ruin the UFOlogists day, at least for the moment. ET won't be proven by UFO people, but it might just transform this field as it will transform the worlds paradigm. This discovery could strengthen the serious study of UFO's if we discover life somewhere else, however small and rudimentary it might be. At least at that point we know life exists elsewhere. And where there are little kids, there are big brothers.

Where do UFO's originate??

I'll give the quick list with a short explanation if needed. What are the possible sources of UFO's

1. Mistaken Identity- Includes lots of photos, videos, experiences. For instance look at Compeche, Mexico case.

2. Hoaxes - Need I say Billy Meier, the bearded, one armed grand master?

3. Unknown Earth energies(Non-Intelligent, well, ... maybe)

4. Military aircraft - who knows what we are really capable of

5. Private enterprise- I wonder if someone other than the government, apparently the US, could pull off a stunt as a UFO display. Could someone be so clever and cunning to outwit our military and society to use some type of craft for whatever reason?? More on this later

6. ET- Is ET responsible for any of it. We know the only way we are ever going to get off this island to to go somewhere else. And we're doing just that. Why wouldn't someone else or something else do it also? Maybe that just have a better way to get here.

7. Alternate or parallel universe or reality- We really haven't even come close to proving it, but things sure seem to get weirder the more we discover. Maybe there is a rabbit hole.

8. Crypto's. Non-humans They live here. I like it. They are perhaps a different human counterpart. Maybe there timeline was different and intelligent life spawned in the oceans. Or maybe it moved to a remote area of the globe and inhabited it. Anyway its as feasable as the others.

9. Maybe the phenomena is part of our psyche. Maybe the imagery, energy, perception, and reality is constructed by our own neuro-network of consciousness. Perhaps it is a grand woven collection of jigsawed mind pieces. Perhaps reality isn't what we think it is. It can't possibly be. Maybe energies are overlapped, interconnected, and interactive on a different level than we know.

10. Cryptos . Humans. Suppose there was a civilization that didn't need trade. They didn't need commerce and typical heirarchical things we find in our society. And suppose they were handed technology faster than other civilizations. Perhaps they were quite advanced, human, peaceful, non-warring, and integrated as a community. This may not even be possible among humans. Anyway, they get technology and continue to live in a peaceful and watchful position while maintaining a hidden society. At the same time, they are still humans. More on this later.

11. What else??

ET exists, no doubt

Really extra-terrestrials are a matter of perspective. If I am here and a spaceship lands and little greys come walking up to me, I might assume they are from another planet. Lets assume they are. Wow. ET does exist. The ET hypothesis has been proven. It IS possible for a species or some life form to travel to our planet and land. OK this is one perspective.

Lets look at some microbial life on Mars. Is it there?? More on Mars in the future, but there may be. Man would that change things I think. Anyway lets say there is life there. And we come crashing in with 2 rovers that traverse small areas of the Martian landscape. Only before that we had mettalic spacecraft circling the planet, whizzing by it, taking pictures and documenting. Now we have these wheeled droids scraping, rolling, sucking up sunlight to power themselves. Not that a microbe can think(well, to our knowledge of what thinking is, again another topic), but if it could, it's perspective and interpretation is that there is intelligent life in the universe. (Little do they know).

My point is that we are ET. If there is life out there somewhere and we bump into it, we are the aliens. We have the UFO's, not quite anti-gravity and warp-drive, but quite cumbersome hunks of metal that rely very much on Newton to get us anywhere.

Imagine this. Fast forward a few million years. If we are alive it's likely not on planet Earth, but thats irrelevant. Pioneer 10 manages to swerve and narrowly avert and major impact until Planet ZaBaDu. Planet ZaBaDu had a similar upbringing as Earth. Violent parents, early childhhod turmoil, and an amazing transformation into something wonderful. Intelligent beings arose on Planet ZaBaDu. Not so intelligent that they never had conflict. Not so intelligent that they mastered technology beyond our comprehension. But maybe similar to us, and perhaps even more archaic than us.

And down upon there world, reigns a great streaking light. Plummeting to Earth,... er sorry, Planet ZaBaDu. And in the midst of this fiery but salavgeable mess they retrieve a plaque. It happens to be the plaque from Pioneer 10. I just gotta wonder what they might be thinking. What would we be thinking?? Surely WE would probably call out much suspicion and likely hoax. On the other hand it might be something that we could study. Right, right, right. What about MJ-12??? We know where the spacecraft land and how to effectively deal with it. Plaque would be gone and witnesses would be left saying that the military figures picked up the debris. That sounds familiar, but this particular post isn't really about that.

This post is to suggest that the ET hypothesis is quite valid because we see ourselves reaching to other parts of our world. We know that our world is finite and has a limited time. Our natural tendency is to explore and go where no man has gone before. Our future is in other parts of the galaxy or galaxies depending what we learn in our quest to survive as a species.

Now whether UFO's play a part in this is another matter to be discussed. We haven't recovered any plaques with rudimentary drawings of the location and likeness of other wordly beings. Well, at least to my knowledge. We don't have obvious signs of ET's here, again, to my knowledge. Perhaps this suggests that either the UFO's represent higher evolved beings or that maybe they aren't ET's, in other words not from another physical planet.

If they are higher evolved beings this might explain the control of craft and their ability to remain enigmatically cloaked. If they are from, well, maybe another dimension or from here, or from some other wacky concoction then the same applies. They can manipulate themselves and/or our our perception of them to their advantage AND our disadvantage.

What is possible is all of the above I suppose. But I feel strongly in saying that there COULD come a day where one of Earths craft, not neccessarily Pioneer 10, could make it to and crash land on another inhabited planet. Wouldn't that be cool? And what if they picked up a signal of Elvis or I Love Lucy. It's possible, it's being broadcast at the speed of light. What if some tiny reciever, pointed in the exact right direction picked something up??

And would they be pissed if they got I Love Lucy and not Big Brother 7??

How big is Big??

I loved showing this photo to my students, 8th graders. I made the room dark as possible and let them look at it. And then I would proceed to question what they were seeing. Most would quickly respond "stars". But to explain to them that they were looking at galaxies, lots of them, some became quite awed.

When we look up at the stars we are looking at suns, billions of them, some bigger some smaller, but really what we see is a portion of our galaxy. And when you have a clear dark night away from the city and you see the Mily Way and realize we are not just looking at the stars, but we are in fact, looking into the eye of our origins. A face to face meeting with awareness of our smallness and insignificance, or significance depending how you view it.

And to make things weirder, looking up into the speckled cloak of night is a look back into time. It took the light millions years to travel across space and enter my eye so that I might have this realization. Wow. So if the nearest star to us went into supernova (which I'm not sure it can, don't think it is big enough -Alfa Centurai will have to check this??) we wouldn't even know for over FOUR YEARS!! Thats the closest one!! It is quite wonderous to look up to the stars and find constellations and planets. But it is another thing to come to revelations about what you are actually looking at. It is a weirdly sublime sensation.

Back to the photo. We are not just a speck on the photo, we are a speck of a speck. A billionth of a speck. And how many galaxies can we see in the picture? And how many more are there? You get a similar type of cosmic feeling looking at this . And you can, maybe not comprehend, but get an idea of the vastness that is vast. We don't have words that can describe phenomena like this. Infinity. If we could zoom out, where would we end? And when would we stop zooming in?

So this leads me in a Drake way, I suppose, to wonder where they are . We are here. In an arm in the Milky Way. A medium sized star, third planet out. We call it Earth. Where are you?

As in the header to this blog you may get an idea of what types of things I may be writing about. UFO's, bigfoot, consciousness, god or lack thereof, ancient civilizations, I'm not sure what else just yet. I'm going to veer away from stuff I don't really care about. Sorry, self interest I guess.

This is not your everyday, report the most absurd sensationalistic garbage type of blog. I'm not interested in what I know or feel to be fake stories. I don't care for sensationalism. The subject may be sensational enough anyway, without the self-promoting alien-envoking lecture. I want to know the truth. Are there intelligent beings of some kind that visit people on our planet? Is there an afterlife? Why can't we find this hairy man in the woods? (psssstt....maybe he doesn't exist)

Other questions as well. What is the nature of biological life throuout the universe? Why have we evolved into this remarkable conscious intelligent being that considers an episode of Dancing with the Stars time well spent? Certainly we are not at the pinnacle of our potential. Could there possibly be a species that is more intelligent than US??

I'll tell you what I think right now and as I change my mind I'll reveal that as well. There are UFO's. They are really there. Sure, not all of them are real, but some are, I'm convinced. I don't know what they are, but they appear to be under intelligent control. I say they appear to be. This doesn't mean that they are. But what I am saying is that this phenomena is real. The problem is getting any type of meaningful attention. This is due to the asylum that is ufology. So many people, with so many agendas. Insanity is a prerequisite for many people in this field.

I'll also spill this disclaimer. I am an armchair researcher at best. I don't go out and interview and investigate. I do the best I can with the information from I can get. From this I build my own assumptions. I am not a believer because belief is irrelevant. I'm not a "debunker" because I maintain an open mind. I accept all possibilities but carry a filter with me. I want truth, whether boring and mundane, or spectacular and sublime. I want to explore these topics as deeply as I can and I appreciate any feedback and additional information that I can get.
